Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall betting is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of most borders.
The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, features 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights many comforts on top of the gambling den, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 table games.
